Hex Bolt on Caliper

Recommended Posts

Just got done doing a brake job on the weekend, and was wondering if there is a replacement bolt for the Hex Bolt on the front brakes? We had a really hard time getting the bolt out. Also wondering why G.M. uses Hex Bolts on the front Calipers and a socket bolt on the back? Leave it up to G.M. to make things difficult! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I feel your frustration. One of the GM's I had was a Cadillac Cimmeron. They had two different bolts on the passenger side calliper that were different from each other. The drivers side had identical calliper bolts, but different from the passenger side. I think they did it to frustrate me enough to take it into the dealer to have it fixed. I ended up buying 3 different tools do do the front brakes. Talk about aggrivating! Good thing is, she went through brakes fast enough to jsutify the cost of the tools.

Anyway, I own a 2003 Tahoe and a 2003 Buick La sabre limited now. I dunno, I guess I am a glutton for punishment.

Cheers!

Way easier if ya put the torx socket in your impact gun. Believe it or not but i thought I was gonna strip it by hand cause i couldn't get it to even pry loose. I hit it with the impact and it came off like it was nothin. If ya have AIR torx ain't bad
