100k warranty? Piston slap? How to?

Recommended Posts

I've heard that some GM truck owners are getting 100k warrantys after calling GM and complaining about piston slap. Do you need documentation from the dealer first? Also are there other problems that they will give the warranty extension for?

yes you will have to go to your dealer first

I was also wondering about this. Do I get the warranty if my truck has 40,000 miles on it, or can I go in anytime before 100,000 miles?

I went in a few times before the warranty expired and had a good relationship with the service manager. He gave me an 800 # to call and said GM would call him and verify and the paperwork would arrive. Everything happened as he described it. That was an 01 4.8 litre

I had CSK on my 01 and I got the free warranty !

IMPORTANT:

Have ALL your oil changes done by the dealer .

Or else they will say the place you had it done used the wrong oil or

filter BS! Happened to me! Their jaws sure dropped when I whipped

out THEIR invoice ! Guesss YOU guys messed up huh?..LOL !!!!!!

Complain NICELY about CSK at dealer and have it written up on invoice!

Get the same old BS "problem not found"

After 3 times in NY you can try the Lemon Law thing........

Then call the GM customer assistance 800# and complain, complain,

complain NICELY and that you are going after your states Lemon Law.

GM SHOULD offer you the 6yr/100k deal......On engine only tho.

You can bet your life BEFORE I signed the papers on my new 04.......

I went to the dealer and cold started it 3 days in a row to make

SURE no CSK in this one !

Salespeople thought I was nuts!.............

Whats that they say about being burned once?.................geo

What you did really didn't prove anything. You can't tell anything when they are brand new. I have a 2002 Sierra with 26K miles on it. I never heard any unusual engine noises until about 15-20K miles. So by test starting it 3 days in a row on a new truck isn't gonna tell you much... Sorry.

B.........HUH? My 01 6.0 had CSK from DAY 1 !

But up here in the frozen north a LOT of vehicles have CSK when its

10 below zero. I guess its normal or expected.

I would not expect it if I lived in a warmer climate tho..

But me too dumb after reading about CSK on these sites to REALLY

check it out FIRST ! Wanted that new rig Today........

I would think that most folks that complain about CSK at 10/15k/whatever

miles maybe are suffering buyers remorse or effected by what they read.

I have owned 90/94/97 GM trucks with the 350s.....Usually quiet on a cold

AM start. GM messed up on the 4.8/5.3/6.0s.

I guess ya get smarter with age............LOL.......

QUAD...........The lifter tick you hear is NOT the lifters. New GMs use a

roller cam/rocker set up.

What your hearing is the fuel pulsing thru the fuel rails and injector poppets.

I took my 01 in for that and CSK. Mechanic said outta luck for CSK...

Ya gotta complain to GM.

He whipped out a stethoscope and let me check out

the valve covers , fuel rails, injectors...............

Sure enough..........He was correct !

Sure is aggrivating going thru drive-thrus, next to buildings, etc.....and your

30k plus truck "ticks" like its a $100 junker...........

Nature of the beast tho !..............................geo

 I have a question. I might be behind the times for asking this but I must know. What is CSK? I am little curious since you all have described the symptoms that my truck has. Yes it is pretty aggravating when you have a gasoline engine and it sounds like a diesel engine.

Thanks
