Higher idle and shift points?

Recommended Posts

Lately, I have been noticing that every once in a while my shift points seem to be running higher than normal. Almost like I have the tow mode engaged. Also, when this problem occurs, my idle when in park is substantially higher. Approx 1100-1200 rpm compared to the usual 700-800. Any ideas on what would cause these symptoms? I take good care of the truck and would like to remedy these problems but have no clue on what would cause these type of issues.

Have you checked your fluid level? Not sure if it is supposed to be in Park or Neutral.

How many miles?

Have you had the tranny serviced?

Also, maybe try unhooking the battery for a while to reset the computer.

Tranny fluid is fine. I just had the tranny serviced about 2000 miles ago. New filter and fluid. The truck has about 65K on it. And I can turn the truck off, restart it, and it stops acting abnormal... Any ideas anyone?

Just wondering if you figured out what is going on. I am having the same issue right now and I think it is the TPS. I am planning on purchasing one tomorrow and installed it because I am having an issue with the shift points and idle.

Thanks.

Don't go out buying new parts, guys.

Remove your throttle bodies, and give them a good cleaning.

Guaranteed they are full of carbon, which will create high idle concerns, plus other oddball things.
