Vortec 5300 Problems

Hi, this is my first post here.

 

So here goes, I've got a 99' Silverado with the 5.3 V8, and its throwing codes all over the place. Simply listening to the engine its hard if not impossible to tell if anything is wrong, but its tossing the following codes;

 

P0102-MAF Sensor, low input.

P0300-Random Misfire

P0332-Knock Sensor Bank 2

P1404-EGR Pintle Valve stuck open

 

I'm guessing that its some sort of air leak either at an EGR gasket or possibly eminating from the EGR valve itself due to the pintle being stuck open (thus letting in excess air and causing a bas air/fuel ratio).

 

The truck starts kinda hard, but otherwise doesn't display any drivability issues. He's changing the fuel filter as I write this in hopes of helping to ease this problem.

 

Any thoughts?

i believe you should start with the low # codes and work your way up. First thing would be to clean the MAF with some TV tuner cleaner.

I agree, work on the MAF and EGR.... not sure if you want to replace it yet though.

 

How many miles on tbe truck?

 

What type of driving? (Towing, city, both?)

 

Any type of mods to it?
