Dmax injector warranty increased

Got a letter from GM in the mail saying my '02 Dmax now has injector warranty to 7 years 200,000 miles. Symptoms are SES light, low power, hard start, and/or fuel in crankcase. It says it is NOT A RECALL, but if you have symptoms, take it in.

This may have been discussed already, but I thought I would share.

They would not do this unless it was a real big problem!! GM does not give anything away for no reason. I guess they got tired of people complaining about $400 each injectors after "only" 100,000 miles.

Is that warranty extension only for 02's or will an 03 be covered as well?

It would warrant checking but It is most likely for that year only. They most have had a lot of problems with them to do that to try to save face.

I'll have to give them a call tomorrow to see. Hopefully it does include 03 as well as it uses the same injectors (I assume?)

I would be curious to know. They may have "fixed" the problem for 03 though.

This is for '01 and '02 Dmax's as of now. I'm sure the '03 and '04's will be added to this in time.

I got my fingers crossed that 03 will be added to the list as well.

I agree. Wasn't there a re-make of the injectors and valve covers for LLY? Sounds very likely the warranty would go all the way up to pre-LLY (LB7?), which basically means half-way into model year 2004. But as there might be pre-LLY trucks still on the lot they might delay the announcement..

And the impact ( further implys that engine is unreliable to John Q Public) and the over all dollar cost too. They will wait to last minute if they do it.
