Triplet Engine Choices

I was thinking the other night about how happy the 02 Envoy has made me and the wife so far.    I was even thinking about a 4WD 4.10 entry level Trailblazer (save all options, a stripper of sort for least amount of weight).

Here's where the madness begins... ;)

GM

- Give us the twin turbo's with the I6 as an engine option.

- Give us the 5.7 LS1 as an option. (This would be excellent choice as 400+ RWHP can be had with boltons and a good heads/cam package- Not to mention the FI kits out there. :D )

- Put a MAF on it so we can at least put in larger injectors without WAITING 5 years for someone to be able to program the PCM's. (Quit putting in injectors JUST big enough in the first place ;) )

- Give us a New Warranty VOID cash back option. :D   (Yes, some of us could care less about a warranty when we know we are going to mod the snot out of these things.  More money for mods!)

GM took the F-Body for us, nothing like giving us a "pratical" performance TRUCK.  :D

Almost forgot...   FORGED PISTONS!  (Please leave the glass in your home kitchens)

So guys, is this TO much to ask for????

(Oh before I forget, I want this option in the NON EXTENDED VERSIONS of the triplets!   :D )

that would be cool.  the only hard part would be getting them to put that stuff in an LS.  GM would probably offer it in the LTZ if they offered it.  it would be nice if they went the same path jeep did and offer the larger engine in the base model as well as the loaded models

Well, as long as I can delete any and as many options as I want...

-GM another thing, don't worry about the rims/tires.   Can I delete those also?  :D    (Unless GM offered some NICE rims and Nitto DR's. )

Well, they already put the 5.3 in the Envoy EX.    WHY oh WHY can't we at least have THAT engine in the regular size?

(An engine swap is easier at that point.)

I know, I know... money.   Well, you guys sell a TON of these triplets, might as well let us have a "Typhoon like" performer with a V8 that's already PROVEN and certified.

You are gonna love this:  I've read that whenever the Bravada becomes the Buick Rainier like next MY or so, it will be getting the 5.3L V8 that the long versions have but it is regular length!  The mag said that the other reg. length versions will not be getting the V8 either.  Bummer.

pacodiablo - Yeah, exactly what I was thinking from the inital pictures I've seen.

Now I REALLY REALLY have to question GM on this move.   WHY oh WHY would you do this in a BUICK ???   I mean, what is the average age of a BUICK owner and do they really demand a V8 when this I6 is SOOOO NICE?

I know GM claims they do these survey groups, etc., but sometimes I SERIOUSLY have to wonder who ends up in these things.

Although, I DO have to admit, a 12 second Buick SUV would be the ultimate sleeper.  :D

Still,   I think I will wait another 30 years or so before I own a regular BUICK vehicle.   No offense to Buick owners, they just don't inspire me (except for a few really quick ones in the 80's. ;) )

I'd bet money they are putting the 5.3 in the rainier cuz they know that will help boost its sales. (much like why the Z06 is only offered as hardtop).  outside of the v8, would many people really choose the ranier over the TB or Envoy??  I wouldn't.

I'd love to have the 5.3l in my LTZ, however, I'm happy with the I6. Gotta love Forced Induction though, thus long live my GTP  :D

The I-6 is strong though. Not a power punch off the line, but in traffic and everyday driving it hauls.

I had a guy in a V8 Jeep race side-by-side today as we merged on the freeway from about 35mph.  He was in front by about 2 lengths when I saw the puff of a full throttle run.  I pulled past him at 70mph but he kept up until about 95mph when I shut down.  I  love the fact that while he may have torque I have running & passing power  :D

nice TB!

it is a real good time for mid-size SUVs right now.  The grand cherokee, explorer, and trailblazer are all WONDERFUL SUVs.  they are also priced right.

I love the I6 too, however a little more torque wouldn't hurt. ;)

Although, it's hard to convince Explorer owners it's only a 6 cylinder.   The Dakota R/T 5.9 guy didn't want to believe me either.  Oh well.    :D

Picking up my Envoy SLE on Friday. 0% for 5 years, what a deal. I think the I6 is awsome, plus, once we get to make some computer and air adjustments it should fly. I like the torque increase of the V8 but I have seen early horsepower estimates for the 5.3 at somewhere between 280 and 295. Although, when this engine was first "discovered by the media" they said GM was building a 240hp I6, 30 horses short.

As far as Buick goes the average age is  65, although that number drops to 55 for the Rendevouz.

It is marketing, figuring if you really want the V8 in the short wheel base you will buy the Buick. The engine is not enough to make me buy one though.

I don't understand the 4th one. Now we are going to have to refer to them as the quadruplets not the triplets. Have you seen the Izusu Ascender? Only available in the third row seat style. Looks exactly like an Envoy XL, just with an Izusu grille.

Most all buicks are sleepers.  Before my grandpa died, I told him he bought an old man's car.  He replied with this.....120mph on the eway in his supercharged Park Avenue.... heh.  Buicks are very plush nice cars.  I'd take a new park avenue over a fully loaded trailblazer anyday.  Much nicer interior, faster, and not a poser! :D

Hey-TheScaryGuy,

Yes, the Park Ave is fast but, you ever drive the Regal GS. It has the same 3.8L Supercharged 240 horse V6 with less weight and handles even better. Now that car flys. My Dad has smoked a bunch of imports off the stop lights that thought they would jump Dad at the light. So... why not offer a supercharged version of the I6???
