Well after 32 years of puffing finally quit, with the help of the "Patch".

So far things have been well, don't really have any cravings, minor ones like "be nice to have a smoke right now, nah"

For those of you thinking about it, I would definitly say the Patch is worth it, haven't had a problem at all.

On the second step now, I think we (wife) will go to the third step next week. We have been downgrading to the steps at our own pace.

Not sure I'm saving any dollars tho, between the Patch and candies............

Now I'll die of diabetes, fix one problem create another.......:D:D:D

Congrats man...I quit dipping after more than 20 years a while back. (I started when I was about 8)

No patch, no nothing....I had a rough month.

But I still have all my teeth, and they're white.

Keep it up though, sounds like you're past the hard part.

My dad used Lifesign to accomplish the same goal. It worked well for him, he quit in 87 and hasn't smoked since. It even quit him sooner than expected and it wasn't a problem. He was already diabetic, sunflower seeds seem to have taken the place of cigs., he has a bag in each of his trucks, and moves one to my mom's car if he's taking a trip in it, plus he's got a bag in the house. Sometimes they make him cough like nobody's business, gets a little unsettling when he's driving, I think it's bits of shells that do it...

Forgot the congrats. Must be a wonderful feeling to not rely on those things to make it through a day. Think of it this way, your lungs are already healing themselves from the damage done by smoking. My dad figures his are almost back to "normal".

Congratulations! I just quit dipping after 27 years of Copenhagen. I have been clean now for over 100 days! Woohoo keep up the good work. I had to use the Patch! Saved my life. As far as diabeties, i have had it for 10 yers now. I take 3 shots a day of insulin. You can live a normal life. I work out 4 days a week with heavy freeweights. If you ever need a word of encouragement, shoot me an email.

Cheers and Congrats again!

Stay strong. I was a social smoker in college (pack a weekend kind of thing) but it started to grow into a habit when I went to work. Decided to quit before it got a hold of me. Hardest part was not the cravings, but the habits (bar, beer, smoke). Change your old habits and that will help with the cravings as well.

I quit 2 times before I finally quit for good....It finally took leaving my old friends and habbits behind! It may sound a bit harsh but if you are around it or friends who still smoke it will be alot easier to slip up...My advice is start over!

Only other advice....Dont even take a drag! One bummed smoke would be all it would take to dive me back into a pack a day! Just say NO!

Its been 5 years and about 50 pounds but the weight is now starting to come off but its worth it!

Well dad had a portion of a lung taken earlier this year. He smoked cigs from as long as I remember until about 15 years ago or so...then moved to cigars. Well there will be none of both anymore. Though they apparently said that the cancer was the type not caused by smoking...but when you're going through what he has and the chemo, why risk the second chance you're being given.

Thanks people

I guess the biggest reason was probably the the kids.

Why take a chance missing all the laughs watching your kids with their kids.

What goes around comes around and in case it doesn't I want to be there to make sure it does............. :(:lol:
