wheels and tires

I need some help. Im wanting to put aftermarket rims on my 03' silverado z71. Suspension is all stock, and will more than likely remain that way for a while. I have the rims picked out, but Im just not sure whether to get 15x8 or 15x10. I want that wider look so i was thinking the 15x10s would look nice. Can anyone tell me what which might be best.? Also what would be the best size tire to wrap around them?

you will need to get at least 16'' wheels to fit over the calipers. 285/75/16 will fit on 16x8 with no problems, you can even squeeze 305/70/16 with some minor fender trimming or raising of the t-bars. i think 16x10 will rub without a lift, but don't quote me on that....

Like he said, you need at least 16s

I would go 16x8. That is what mine are. I have 4" of backspacing and 265s and the tires are just about even with the fender flares, or maybe a tad still inside.

Most rims have 4.5" of backspacing. So you will be about what I am. If you go to a 10" wide, it will look kinda funny IMO. And you will need a wider tire, like a 305, which will rub.

The only thing is, I dont want them to stay under the fenders. I want them to stick out a little. Thats why I wanted 15s becasue the backspacing is smaller and they do stick out. Ive seen a few trucks aroudn here with 16x8s that stick out a litle so I know I can find some. Anyways thanks for your help guys.

I dont know about your state laws, but in mine the tires must be under the fender or flare. I know a guy who got pulled over and the cop gave him a ticket because the tires were about 2 inches outside the fender. He had to get the car inspected-everything and they made him replace the wheels! All you have to do is run into a guy having a bad day and .... I would check the law before spending a lot of $$$.

Varies state to state.

Some places it must be less then 1" beyond the fender. Some is none. Some don't care.

And then there is Montana, which is awesome. No state inspection. No emissions. If it has break lights, a horn, a mirror and a headlight, it can be street legal. You can make ATVs street legal. I could make my 2 stroke dirt bike street legal. You can make golf carts street legal. Pretty much anything goes.

In Oklahoma we dont have to have inspections and most trucks you see around here have the wheels sticking out. Especially 4x4s. I guess Ill have to settle for what I can get. As long as it looks nice I guess thats all that matters.

i have 16x10 and they make the tire stick out about 1.5-2 inches...nothing real noticable....unless your behind me in a rain storm.....never had any problems wth them in FL,NC,or VA. If you get a ticket, you could always put on some bushwackers.
