Grease Boot Replacement?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hey guys, this weekend while performing an oil change and lubing my Silverado I noticed the grease boot on the passenger side ball joint has a hole in it and is losing grease as fast as I can squirt it in. The one on the driver's side is kinda squishy as well and probably needs replaced too.

My question is, is this a job that I can do in my garage or do I need to take it somewhere and have it done? What all is involved? Any special tools? What has to be taken apart? Is there anything else I should look at replacing at the same time?

This is on my 2000 Silverado Z71 with 83,000 miles on it.

Thanks,

B.J.
