Tobes Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 Looking to put a brush guard on my '02 Sierra. The question I have is that I have heard they can interfere with the airbag system on the vehicle. I thought the airbags just use an accellerometer (sp?) and not really impact on the bumber to figure out when to deploy. Any thoughts? I also guess that some are easier to install then others. Thanks
DJinCO Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 No the airbag sensor is not dependant on the bumper. I hope that you are planning on the brush guard to be for looks only, not really all that functional. The front bumper is pretty weak, most of what you see is plastic. Now, if you want a bumper that says "Back Off or don't even think about cutting in front of me" look at Ranch Hand or the other good replacement bumpers that use steel.
