Stock baffle crap

Hey all,

 

I was wondering what the major purpose was for all that duct work on the 4.3L. I kinda figure its all sound reduction what not. I'd like to get rid of that along with the stock black air breather and get something chrome. I figure someone probably makes a chrome air breahter for these motors. Any harm in trashing the duct work??

TBI likes that warm air when it's cold outside, but in Houston go ahead and ditch it.
