walbern1 Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 I have run "Astrostart" remote starters in my last 3 Chev/GMC trucks and have never had a problem with them and have never had a warranty issue arise from their use. Make sure you have it installed by a reputable shop so if there are any problems due to the install they will look after you. The only thing I would recomend is to have your remote hooked in to your factory power locks as well (this is an option with most installs) so you don't have to use two remotes. And by the way, I use mine almost as much in the summer to cool the truck off as I do to warm it up in the winter.
Bart2500HD Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 I had an "Ultrastart" model in my last truck. It worked great. Just a note, the two-way remotes that let you know if your vehicle started eat up batteries pretty fast. Luckily, the "Ultrastart" used a plain old AAA battery and those are relatively cheaper than other types out there.
99-2door Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Whichever unit you choose you will also need to purchase a PASSLOCK II by-pass module. DEI makes a good one.
ridnlow Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Ive worked with DEI and other Alarms and DEI is the way to go.. i believe the module you need is the DEI 557L.. www.dei.com good luck
