Are the new S.S. tailgate cables out yet?

Just wondering if anyone knows if the new stainless cables for the Silverado tailgate recall are out yet. I know in the letter they said they would send another letter when they are available. I have not received a letter yet, but I called the local dealer (parts) and he said they have the new stainless cables. He then switched me to the service dept to see about getting them. The service guy said they were not aware they were available yet. I told him the parts guy said they had them and of course he doesn't know anything. Typical nobody knows what's going on. I might call a few other dealers in Houston to see what they say.

I took my truck in last week for a little work and asked the parts guys about them too. He said that they had them but they would have to be charged for

 

I told him that they were part of the recall and he told me to go to the service bay and they would hook me up!

 

Went the the service bay and was told that they didnt have the parts YET :

 

They told me they would not be available until late in the 4th quarter and I would get a letter....

 

I guess if you want to buy them they have plenty, if you want freebees then your

I had my truck in 2 weeks ago for service, and asked my service advisor about them. She said they had a few, and were trying to take care of the broken ones first, but would see what she could do. She was able to get them put on mine. I verified with her that I can not just pick them up, they have to be installed by their service dept. That is why I wanted to get it done while I was already there instead of making another appointment and hassling with work just to get tailgate cables installed. The funny part is, both cables have big "Made in China" tags wrapped around them. Just found it humorous.

I called three other dealers in Houston and every one of them said they did not have them yet. So I guess I'll just wait for the letter.
