Tire size Question

I am about to purchase an 04 GMC 2500HD 4x4 with a 6" trailmaster lift and I am wondering what the biggest tire I can fit on my truck.

Will the spare of the same size fit under the truck?

What brand does everbody favor?

Thanks for the help!

With six inches of lift you can run 33" tall 12.5-14" wide quite easy. I had a 92 with six and a three inch body lift and 35/12.5/15 and they would hit during steering and suspension articulation combinations during off roading if I hit obsticals to hard, but if you don't off road you could go with 35's I'd stick with 33's for the clearance. You can also forget about putting the spare under the truck, in the box chained in so it doesn't walk away one night, or a tire carrier mounted in the box. I never carried my spare unless I was offroading, NEVER had any flats anyway. If you want to go with the best tire buy Super Swamper SSR's they are radial tires and nothing else can compare to them. I got over 50,000 KM before I sold the truck and they still had at about another year of driving left to go. If anybody doesn't agree with the Swampers being the best, they have never seen or owned a pair. It's the only tire for exteme offroad driving and street use. NICE to see someone else from Alberta on the site.

NICE! yur from Alberta!

I was thinkin about getting those tires, but was wondering how they do on icy highways and back roads (like we know Alberta gets more often then not). Do they stand up to the gravel roads as well? Most guys up here run BFG's or Mickey Thompson's

The swamper ssr is by far the best tire I have ever owned for ice and snow. The first time I took friends for a ride in the middle of winter with poor road conditions they just about s**t themselves, They had BFG's or MTR's on there trucks and said there was no way that they could drive as quick around town as we could in my truck, they said that the swampers were stopping in half the distance that they would need and in 4x4 on the roads the tires performance would put their's to shame. If you see a set of SSR's you will know why, first they are radial tires and second the knobs that run the center of the tire are deeply sipped which allows for awsome bite in all conditions. I would rotate mine every 10,000km's and they wore very even, and As far as gravel I only traveled the forestery trunk road a few times and went out hunting a few, and they showed no damage at all.

yup... pretty much. Most true 35x12.5 etc are high floatation meaning the side wall gives a bit more when you air down
