My mighty truck is a victim

My truck was in the shop today to get the oil changed for the first time (light came on at 2675 miles).  While it waas in there I asked them to check a windshield molding noise.  I knew they would say it was caused by my bugdeflector, and I was right!!!

I told them that's kinda funny!!!  I bought the truck last September and put the bugdeflector on the day I bought it, but didn't start hearing the noise until late February!!!  Why didn't the noise start then??? And why is it only on the passenger side???

How can a ?k truck be beaten by a ? bugdeflector??? ABSURD!!!

I think I read that MountaineerTom did some magic to his molding and I was wondering if he could reply to this problem with how he fixed it...  Can you help me Tom?

The sound I hear is only at highway speeds when I'm in a crosswind (gust) or in some "dirty-air" behind a semi.  It kinda sounds like someone is dropping small hanfuls of tiny marbles on my windshield by the A-pillar on the passenger side.

I told my dealer over the phone, that if he wasn't "able" to fix it then I'd get the help of my non-certified GM mechanics to tell me how to fix it!!!

Hey Shaners,

What I did was buy some of that 3M Molding Tape, that can be found at a local parts store, the gray kind with the red backing/liner.  It's in a 1/2 in. X 15 ft. roll.  (They make a few different sizes)  Part number 03614.  I cleaned the underside of the trim and the windshield under it with rubbing alcohol (I was suprised how nasty and gummy it was under there) and just put the tape on the trim, from the top to the botom.  Then started at the top and began peeling the backing away and pressing it down as I went.  I did both sides and it only took 10 or 15 minutes.  It's been on there for a few months now and it hasn't loosened up any at all.  And best of all, I havn't had the annoying noise I was hearing.  I thought it sounded like someone was tapping the windshield.

It does suggest applying it above 65 degrees.

Hope this helps your noise too.
