spark plugs

I changed mine on my '99 around 62k along with the belts,hoses,DEX-COOL and thermostat!

Swapped mine at about 36.5k, they looked fine but the gaps ranged from .045 to .065. Replaced them with Denso Irridiums, (gapped em at .055), and MSD 8.5 wires. I kept the original Delco plugs and factory wires as a backup since they all looked good...just put the gaps where they belong.

 Be sure to put some anti-sieze on the plug threads if you swap them out, also, some dialectric grease in the spark plug boots is never a bad idea.

I have a little over 15k on my 2003 and I can already feel a miss. I may have to pull mine and inspect them.

i have 53,000 on mine 1998 chevy k1500.they looked fine and gaps were ok. i checked them all.so, i would leave them in if you truck is running ok. they are cheap enough to change tho. i would not put any other spark plug in but the ones that came out. seen to many problems switching brands etc. stay with the AC PLUG. take care :lurk:

I plan on doing my plugs and wires at 100K (this will be the first time) - I will also flush the dexcool, replace all the hoses, and maybe change out the thermostat now that I read the post above.

I have read in this forum about guys having trouble getting the boots off the plugs, some even breaking the cables. Is there any method to pull the boots and definately not damage them?

I just grabbed a hold of my wires and ripped em off, I wasn't worried about reusing them because I was replacing them as well, I don't think they were damaged in the process. If I was reusing them as in your case grab the rubber base, not the wire and pull it straight off, a slight twisty motion can help too.

Yea, that is how I have always done it, but I thought I had read that some boots wouldnt come off and the wires had to be replaced. I'll just give it a try and see what happens...Thanks!

I am having problems getting heat right now. I looked in the radiater and not much coolent. I added some distilled water until I get a chance to have it flushed and new put in. I did notice the other morning after I got home from work that it was dripping water from the passenger side behind the front wheel. I drove about 17 miles home from work mostly highway so it gets to proper temp. I was low on coolent but the temp. gauge never showed it getting hot. I wasn't running my air conditioner neither. So I don't know why I'm losing coolent. Changed oil and no signs of water there. I think I have something plugged that is why I don't have any heat. My dads 97 4.3 drips water also and he has to add coolent every so often and his truck has 225,000 miles on it. My truck has 166,000 miles. Both are 2wd w/t. His is a stick and mine is a auto.

I just changed my plugs on my 98. 72K on them. Gaps were all wacked out.. and some were nasty. I just took my time and wiggled the boots off one by one and they were fine. I put the original Bosh platitum's in and she runs much better. Feels allot smoother. The plugs that were in there were the stockers. It's a easy job just take your time and don't rush and you'll be fine! :D:fume:
