should bump stops touch?

just was looking under my burb with 9000 miles to see why inner tires up front are wareing funny when I noticed that the bump stops rest on the control arms. is that normal ??

I had that problem on my 01 Silverado and 99 GMC. I cranked the torsion bars a few turns on the 01 prior to adding 285 BFGs. Never had any problems with sagging after that.

the bump stop is actually a cushion/stop. it is figured into torsion bars travel which is why some say you ride suffers by cranking up your torsion bars. adjust to your liking. :lurk::jester:

Yes it is normal for the lower control arm to rest on the bumpstop. Like mentioned above, it is part of the intended damping system and will prevent a "bouncy" feeling ride.

Those "bump stops" are actually there to give a psuedo variable spring rate performance to the torsion bar front suspension.

 

 

 

I think these are called "jounce" bumpers. ***Somewhere*** is an explanation of these things and the explanation makes perfect logical sense.
