1500HD

Does anyone know what the difference in the 1500 and the 1500HD is or if there is a 1500HD? I see it referenced on several aftermarket sites, but I haven't really seen anything on GM's site to figure out the difference.

 

I have a 2002 silverado Z71 with 3:73 gears, tow package, etc. If I look up my RPO codes, there really isn't anything else my truck could have that would classify it as HD.

The badge will say 1500HD and it will be a Crew Cab. It is really a standard 2500 (8600 lb GVWR chassis). The 1500HD was around for a couple of years, then dropped last year, and now will be back again for 2005.

I agree with robsawatsky's post completely, I have a 02 1500HD Crewcab one other differance is that the truck also has the 4L80E trans.

I have an '02 1500HD as well. Couldnt ask for a better "half ton" truck

 

 

Seems I have read that the 1500HD is equivelent to the 2500 light duty (non HD) using most of the same drivetrain parts. ALL I guess are crew cabs with the 6.0L...are they ALL LT's too? I see for '05 that they have an LS model, but all of the things I have learned about the 1500HD shows that they are ALL LT's. Not sure on that one, but its a great heavy half.
