Auto Trans Question

Recommended Posts

My 99 Silverado 2wd 4.3 tends to have a delay shifting from 2nd to 3rd gears when the outside temp is below freezing. This only happens for the first few miles or until the truck is stopped then restarted.

Is this a common trait or are problems in my future?

Thanks for your imput :D

It's common and supposed to do that to allow the fluids to warm up.  It's mighty frustrating, but at least you know it's normal.

Yep, designed to do this. Heats up the fluid quicker. After the fluid reaches a pre determined temp it shifts normal.

:D:crazy:

My truck won't shift till about 30-35 MPH and it is normal but that doesn't mean I like it... It also won't allow it to shift to OD until things are warmed up.
