Nothing like crossing the finish line in the air.....Wasn't nearly as exciting as his last crash there though. I was sorry to see Johnson DNF.....<sniff><sniff>...LMAO

BTW....what did Jr, say in Victory lane....I heard NBC appologize, but I missed the dreaded curse word.....My take on the situation is.....if there was a kid to offend watching the race, chances are they heard their parents say the same word a couple of hundred times during the race.

Well, He slipped the tongue twice. When the reporter (I think it was Matt Yocum) informed Jr. he regained the points lead, Jr. Said "H*ll yeah man!".

But the apology was over Yocum asking Junior about some issue (Forgot what it was), and Jr. said (with kind-of a smirk) "That don't mean Sh*t right now."

d**n that was a good race... I pizzed my self laughing when Johnson parked his car, and was really hoping his buddy would join him!! But since Jr got the points lead, and his 5th win of the year I can't complain.

Jr said during the interview: "It dont mean s___, Daddy won 10 of em here" Then NBC apologized for the curser word.

I expect a monetary fine and probably 25 points taken away if NASCAR actually sticks to its own precedents it set this year. Course we all know how well NASCAR sticks to its precedents right?

Neways glad my favorite driver won, and took the points lead. Sucks though he might lose it on the langauge there lol.

NASCAR is out of control

I am a Jr. fan so I may be biased, but I would be pissed if it were any other driver too. IMHO, NASCAR has gone way overboard with this sh*t....GOTO victory lane, or get fined....BE nice or get fined.....don't show emotion or get fined......show me one person who was offended???

While on my rant, I'll throw the NFL into the mix too.....no celebrating???? Next thing ya know, MLB will start docking runs for going out to home plate to give high fives after a homerun...but I digress.

Let the drivers decided the championship on the track....not a bunch of guys in suites in a board room, that are only worried about the bottom line.

While I agree with you somewhat, TMF. If he hadn't been penalized, there would've been an outcry from Gordon fans, Johnson fans, and anybody else, all b*tching because 2 drivers before him this year did the same thing and got the same punishment. So it almost had to be done.

Only thing we can do now, is hope that if Jr. does lose the championship, it's by over 25 points.

Oh I agree the precident has been set....for the rest of the season they have to do it that way. I just think it's a dumb rule to begin with....I can see if you are up there cussin up a storm, but everyone lets one slip every now and then. I just think next season, they need to look at the rule, and maybe figure something else out. I can see the fine, no one likes to take a hit in the pocket book...but I think a point deduction for the first offense is excessive. I mean....he probably could have spun someone out on purpose....called it racing, and not gotten a point deduction.

As I said before I am a JR fan, but I would feel this way for any driver....the Cup should be won on the track, not lost in an interview.

I'm so angry about this 25 point deal I think I'm gonna flip! If Jr loses the championship by less than 25 pts, I'll be livid. It's rediculous...the dude was just cruisin at almost 200 mph and just won a race! So he said sh*t...most people would sh*t! It's not like he told someone to go f**k themselves. I hope he wins the next 5 races and builds up a 400 pt lead so he can tell the good folks at Nascar to go f**k themselves on national TV! (Sorry, I know I sound rediculous, but this is a sore subject for me)

I'm a HUGE Jr. fan, and I'm GLAD they he lost the points. WHY? Because just like mentioned before the precedent has been set. If they had not taken the points everyone would go back to what they used to say, that NASCAR shows favoritism towards him.

As for the comments of the penalty being too harsh for anyone, the only thing I can figure is, it is like every other penalty they hand out, the drivers don't care about the money so fines won't do any good, but they do care about points so let's get them to really pay attention. NASCAR and NBC are worried about the FCC and they don't want to get nailed over what a driver does, so they're trying to make the drivers pay more attention.

Was I offended? Absolutely not, I thought it was funny. However, I understand why all of this was done and I agree withthe punishment because of the consistency. We all always b!tch and moan that NASCAR is not consistent with penalties and now that they are trying to be consistent everyone wants to b!tch because they want them to take it easy on Jr.

My hats off to NASCAR for finally having the backbone to be consistent, even though it does suck for me as a Jr fan.

I agree with you Budhayes3, I don't want to see him lose it by less then 25 points, but I guess NASCAR had to be consistent (then again why should they start now? :sigh: )

Anyway I don't want to see him lose it by less than 25 points to a Roush driver because of what happened in 1990 when they penalized Mark Martin 25 points for an illegal intake manifold, he ended up losing the championship by just a few points and good 'ol Jack Roush is still upset about it,so I don't want to give Roush the satisfaction of winning the championship this year that way.

What Jr. did was off the track and it didn't effect the way anyone else finished, and HE DIDN'T CHEAT like Roush was doing in '90.

I hope he does good in Kansas and I'll be in Charlotte next Saturday night to root him on!!

    • I've been eyeing an upgrade to my tonneau cover for a bit now.  Intrigued by the BAK MX4 EZ-Lift with the torsion spring and went for the upgrade.  Thoughts and musings during unpacking, install and a few days of usage.   Once my order went into Realtruck, it took about 4 days to ship.  Unfortunately, FedEx Ground destroyed the box and contents and it was unusable upon receipt.  To Realtruck's credit, one email with pictures and an RMA was sent to me to send the first one back, and another unit was shipped out.  It arrived 3 days later, unscathed.   I opened the box and it looked like every other BAK MX4.   Biggest differences are the rails and retaining clamps, and of course the spring attached to the cover itself.     NOTE - if you are upgrading from a MX4 to the EZ-Lift, you will have to replace the rails.  The EZ-Lift rails have a notch cut in them to allow the new style retaining clamps to fit properly.  The new retaining clamps also have 2 knobs/carriage bolts and there are two tracks underneath the front panel. The strap clips are mildly different (more like the Undercover Flex clamps) in that the screws go in from the underside.  Personally I prefer these over the BAK clamps that use the nutserts that are a nuisance to install.  The remainder of the parts in the box (drain tubes, rail clamps, and bumper pads) are standard issue BAK.     I did not replace my front bed seal at the time because it seemed to be in decent shape.   BAK recommends shims on the GM trucks unless you place the clamps on the flanges about 1/3 of the way in from both the front and rear of the bed.  I shimmed the front and the middle, and initially placed the clamps equidistant.  This also turned out to be a mistake, because when I set the cover in place, the new style retaining clamps wouldn't clear the front clamp.   New style clamp inserted in the track:     And the issue which occurred because the front rail clamp was too far forward:     Once I removed the shim from the front of the bed, and slid the clamp back to the front flange, everything cleared fine.     The cover set on the rails without issue and I installed the strap clamps.  After I completed my adjustments, I pulled the pin to activate the torsion spring.  Mistake #3 on my part.  PULL THE PIN AS THE VERY VERY VERY LAST STEP!  The reason is, once you pull the pin, the torsion spring is activated.  If you have to loosen the front clamps and adjust the cover, the front panel will - by virtue of the spring, refuse to lay down.  The only way to get it to lay down so you can reinstall and tighten the clamps is to fully open the panel against the back of the cab, which will then allow the front panel of the cover to lay down and be tightened.  Not a big deal unless you haven't installed the foam pads yet (typically the last step) because minus the foam pads, you will need to place something between the frame of the cover and the back window so it doesn't get scratched.  The next time I install one I will install the foam pads before I pull the pin and activate the spring.   After using it for a few days:   The spring assist is great.  You literally can open it with one hand.  My shoulders aren't getting any younger and this was part of my motivation to swap out. The second panel latches and unlatches itself as you open and close the cover.  Neat in concept, however it took me a minute to get used to closing the cover and not hearing the "latching" sound that would tell me it was locked in place. The paddle handles are a huge upgrade and I wouldn't be surprised to see them become the standard across the Realtruck line.  They effectively eliminate the concern that a thief could coat hanger the cover open and get to the contents in the bed. I'm not sure why the very front panel on my cover has a different finish from the other 3 panels.  I have a request into Realtruck to find out if mine was not manufactured properly or if it was by design.   All in all I'm pleased.  Same level of protection, looks good, keeps stuff mostly dry (they all leak around the tailgate) and easy to install.
