Warning to all.......

I got pulled over by a motorcycle cop today cause he said he couldn't see me inside my truck. He said he wanted to do a window tint inspection. He pulls out this new device that looks like a box with a slot in it for the top of your window to fit in. It has a computer readout and can tell you the film percentage. This is the first time I have ever been stopped for that so I don't know if they are starting to crack down on this now so be careful!!!!!!!

They have had those meters in some areas for years.

Thanks for the warning, but without a location deosn't do much good.

got to check your state laws before you have tint applied. In my state, trucks and suvs can have limosine black from the behind the driver seat, but the driver and passenger side are limited to 35%. If they think you are violating the law, you get a ticket and have to go to mvd where they test it and if its over you have to strip it off and come back for a re-test. Best not to call attention to yourself, keep it legal.

Jersey frowns upon tinting also...at the end of the month they really seem to bust your chops around here for silly insignificant violations.

CA also does not like tinted front windows. I got nailed by the same cop twice in 2 weeks (thankfully just warnings) so after that second time I decided best to remove the tint film and avoid a ticket.

Yeah, well, you know it's quota time at the end of the month. Don't know what your daily commute is like budhayes3, but I go down to Neptune (Exit 102) every day for work. State PD is always sitting at the bottom of the hill after Exit 114 and they're always there the last week of the month.

Only funny story I have about NJ cops is an out-of-date inspection sticker. Went to college in Hoboken. Drove past so many Hoboken and JC cops at 5 mph thanks to the wonderful traffic up there and never got stopped once. Driving home one day a cop spots my inspection sticker as I'm going past him at 45 mph (which was the speed limit) and nails me for it.

I had to take off my super super super can't see in can't see out florida tint, when I moved to NC for the inspection....that stuff is a PITA to get off!! Got some new tint after I passed inspection, not nearly as dark...but then again, it's not nearly as hot and sunny here year round....and it is kinda nice to be able to see out of my windows at night...LMAO

I've got the factory deep-tint in the back and AZ-legal in the front. Down here in AZ it's so friggin' hot and sunny that they're a little more lenient with us. There is an AZ-legal shade that all of the tint shops have to stop at. I'm not, but if you're a law-enforcement officer they let you have the limo stuff on the front windows of any car you own. Maybe I should go into police work.

Yep, when I lived in Kansas I got a ticket for window tint to dark, $65 back in 2002. I had a shop put 20% all around, giving the back windows 5% after tinting over the chevrolet factory tint, when the cop tested my extended cab with his handy dandy little box he was pissed. He did not make me take it off and knock on wood have not got another ticket since.

I live right out of VA, there is a short cut to my sister's house that takes you in va a bit. I use to have hide the radar detector under the seat, and roll my windows down in my old truck when taking that way. stupid road blocks. now all i have to do is lock the radar detector in the truck box.

not having grass to mow would be neat.

So lets say you live in Florida, license is in Florida and you have 5% window tint all the way around. 80% of the cars here have it I would say. You take a trip to DC/VA and get pulled....can they ticket you for a "tint violation" even if you reside in another state?

No, they can't, it has to be reg in that state . but if the tint is over the leagal limit in your state they might give you a warrning, and if it is to dark they might give you a safety violation ticket. laws are diff in each state, like in PA i think you can't have any tint on the front at all, and when I was there my 02 had 20% on the front and got tailed but never pulled over.

Check the local laws on the wed. some of them are so  I think we all would get Nailed for something

    • Got the truck back today.  Called them yesterday to get an update, and miraculously my truck is finished?!?! The $13k out the door was complete bullshit!  Ended up being over $14k.  They added some bullshit service bulletin that I cant even find, where they replaced my radiator without telling me or asking me, and charging me for it.  Need to do more research into it, cause they leaked the first delivered radiator was ran over by FedEX.  Sounds like bullshit to me. 2.5 Months for an engine swap, which ended up being remanufactured, not new; ****ing ridiculous.  Brakes are squishy as hell, not sure if its from sitting.  Will give a couple days to see it that figures it self out.  GAVE IT BACK TO ME WITH 1 GALLON OF GAS!  Just filled the tank the day before drop off, more bullshit.  My dash cam SD card was formatted, not really much I can do about that. 3 year, 100k GM warranty at least.  Time to sell it and say **** off to GM.  Bad experience.  Cant wait for the survey email to come through.  Overpriced Raptor R, here I come!
    • If I forget the phone in the truck, and forget the truck in the phone, and reconnect.  It works great for the day.  Truck sits overnight, and the next day is a no go.  It will connect Android Auto via usb cable, but not bluetooth.   Ive tried Everything in this thread so far, and nothing works for more than a day.   I think I might have to go to the dealer and have them flash the pcm.   thanks for all the suggestions guys. 👍
    • 2022 2500HD Crew Z71 Duramax single alternator.  Recently had the primary (water pump / fan) belt tensioner pulley bearing to fail while hundreds of miles from home of course the plastic pulley melted and belt shredded which took out some wiring. Found a replacement tensioner assembly and belt to continue now would like to find a replacement for just the pulley and bearing to have a spare assembly in case of a repeat, the rest of the tensioner is fine. Has anybody here found a correct replacement part for just the pulley and bearing? Any help is appreciated.
    • +1 for the 3.0   Perfect for 1500 pickup towing duties.   Perfect engine for a 1500 pickup period. Huge torque at stunningly low RPM makes it feel a lot lighter than it is. The fuel mileage is insane for a tall and heavy 1500... 30+ on the highway. Mid 20's around town.   It's probably not perfect if you bought a 6.2 for the braaaaaaapppppp V8 noises and wrapping it out to 6k. The LZ0 acts and sounds like a small turbo diesel and there's nothing you can do to make a small turbo diesel sound like a big one, and you can't make an inline diesel sound like a V8 diesel/big Duramax. It's a different driving experience altogether.   Drive one, I think you'll like it, though...
    • I'll bet your truck lost the bearings on a roller on 1 of the lifters, and now is wiping out a cam lobe.
