Plug-in coolers

I saw an add for a cooler that you can plug into the car's cigarette lighter when it's running and stays cools when it's not. It might be a good idea for long trips if it's cheap and reliable. Anyone has info on it?

You can find a bunch of 12volt stuff like that on places like JCWhitney.com and a few other sites. I'd say go for it, beats lugging around Ice. I think they make one for the burb that replaces the center console so it's all built in, but unless you constantly need a 12 pack cool I wouldn't go that far.

My cousin has a coleman and it's great. I need to go shopping and buy myself one. If you get one get a good one and buy the 120v converter. It works great when your having a party and need an extra fridge for food or drinks.

I have the Colmen also. It works great on long trips...

they are slow to cool, so you need to plug it in early, or put a couple of "blue Ice" packets in it. It's also a good idea to put cold items in it... you don't want to put a warm can of your favorite beverage in their and expect it to be cold in an hour!!!

I think mine is reversable, and will keep things warm too...

If I remember right, I think it said it would cool 40-45 degress below what the outside air temp. is

Thanks guys. Will go look for one tomorrow. This is great having the burb, now I can feel totally justified buying more gadgets for long trips

You won't regret it. I have the AC Adaptor for mine so I can use it in my office. Works great in the truck also. By all means, put already chilled stuff in there! It does take a long time to cool (I have the Coleman also...).
