Yep, logon to Carfax and get it. It's worth it, IMO. Money well spent.

Beware that only info reported is shown on the report. I that some of the major insurers don't report.

We repaired a 2003 vehicle last year that had $11,500.00 damage. The guy just sold it, but before he did we pulled a report and there was no mention of the damage.(that was covered by 1 of the top 3 insurers)

Sooo its back to buyer beware!

In my opinion Carfax is worthless. They claim that you can find out the ENTIRE history of a vehicle before you buy it yet I personally traded in a car with two accidents on it and NEITHER showed up in Carfax. Total damage to the car was around $7,000 between the two accidents. Carfax....

I'm sure their disclaimer releases them from any liability. The people who benefit the most are the dealerships who push it and Carfax themselves.

I ran a report, just to see, it came back clean, but i wish it would tell all of the work done on the truck. I am going to talk to my sales rep, see if she can pull a GM History just to see what all has been done to it.

Check your local News (TV station) station web pages for FREE carfax full reports.

From time to time Carfax will allows local stations to offer their viewers a free report (usually last for 24 hours) when the local station does a report on carfax or has a consumer help series about buying used cars. When you see something like this you got to act fast as it last for a very short time. Plus if you want to run morew than 1 vehicle, you need to clean your cookies Et.c from your computer.

I have found free offers from accross the country from time to time by typing in CARFAX and various variations of new / TV station into a search engine, 9 out of 10 times the free time has lasped and could not get it.

Carfax is just one tool to use in finding a true cream puff of a used vehicle.

If you belong to a credit union they sometimes offer free carfax reports, Plus I am finding more and more used car dealers that offer free carfax reports once you really get down to the nitty gritty final stages of closing a car deal.

One other tool to use in the used car search is to get a good used car value. I use the "BLACK BOOK" as this is the bibleof used car valus based on reports from dealers across the country in buying cars (both used car trade in and auction prices) .

Again, most credit unions have free black book access (my IBM credit union does)

this information will help you determine what the dealer should own that used vehicle for.

What source can you use to obtain the service history of a vehicle (like shown above)? I'm looking at purchasing a used K2500 and would like to know the same info. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've got the VIN..it is 1GCGK29U61Z288856. Thanks!

When I bought my Z71 used, the dealer had all of the repair history/Carfax in a big binder with all of the same info for the rest of the used vehiclesthey had on the lot. He gave me all of that info upon delivery of the truck. Just ask for it, they should be able to get it for you.
