cabin airfilter replacement

Hi everyone, new guy on the block. I have a problem locating the cabin air filter on my 2003 GMC 2500 HD. Followed the "generic" instructions that came with the filter but nothing seems the same in real life as the instruction claim they are. They say to remove 2 screws to remove kick panel that covers blower assembly behind glove box. Mine has 4, no problem. Then it says to remove screw that holds clip and slide old filter out, put in new then reverse assembly. I can not find access panel for filter once I get the cover off. What am I doing wrong???

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

I don't believe that GM put cabin air filters in the '03s. They stopped in '02 as far as I know. That could be why you are experiencing these problems.

Yup, they stopped adding the cabin air filtration system in almost all the trucks after 02. Yours probably doesn't have it. Bummer, because they actually work well. Every time I have changed mine, the "exterior" side has been full of bugs, grime, and miscellaneous dark crud. The "interior" side has been pretty clean.

I have an 02. If you can't return the filter for credit, I would be interested in taking it off your hands for a fair price. Is the GM part number #52485513?

I actually brought a GM cabin filter for my 03 Denali. GM parts man looked it up, and I brought a $30 filter. Spent 4 hours trying to find it,... to no avail.

I eventually returned it. If there is a cabin filter, it's not under the passenger side dash.

Thanks for the info. No wonder I could not find it. Advanced Auto Parts can now update there data base. Thanks for the offer to take it off my hands but I will be able to return it for full price especially since it "doesn't exsist" and I did keep the receipt. I have an 02' Tahoe that I replace the filter in and I agree with the dirt thing. The filter helps keep the cab clean.
