05 tahoe rust

I just bought an 05 black z71 tahoe last week and when i washed it this weekend i noticed 5 or 6 little rust spots on the top....anybody else had this problem or heard of anyone with this before. Also any thoughts on what i should do to fix this...i don't really want to have it painted already.

Don't even touch it or attempt to fix it yourself - you just spent $35-$40G on this vehicle, take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

I forget if this is possible but I remember reading rail dust (which actually would be iron oxide, i.e. rust) could embed itself in the car's paint during transportation. That may explain what you are seeing up there on the roof.

I just got an 04 Crew Cab 4x4, and I also noticed specks of rust on the hood and roof, very small so I didn't notice when I bought it, what should I do.

Maybe it is rail dust, but is that just stuck to the paint or is there damage done to the paint?

That is what I was thinking, a clay bar will clean up rail dust in no time

2005 under warrenty, get it on record that there is a problem for future claims

 

if it's surface rail dust this is what they will do:

 

RAIL DUST REMOVAL, OXALIC ACID PRODUCTS

 

then power buff & detail

 

it will look better than it was on the show room floor
