8.1 check oil level

Hey everyone.

I run Mobil1 1030 syntetic with Mobil 1 filter on my 01 silverado. I probably put in about 1500 miles since last change. Last night I drove it then parked it, then started it up again like a minute or so later after I turned it off and the "check oil level" message apperaed in the messagge screen. So I shut it off and let it sit till morning. This morning I checked the oil level and it did seem to be just a bit shy of normal operating range. I added like 1/2 quart to be safe. Then I started the truck and drove to work. Nothing came on. But nothing came on last night either while I was driving. It happened while i was parked after the driving. Is that normal for the oil to vanish in the 8.1 motor. Where does it go? I have no leaks or drips. Was that some kind of sensor glitch?
