Coolant Flush Instructions

Recommended Posts

Hey -- Does anyone have any kind of detailed coolant flush instructions? I have a 2000 GMC Yukon with 73K miles on it and I want to do a coolant flush soon. I've never done this before on any vehicle, so I'm looking for any advice (or, better yet, directions) for doing this job.

Also, a list of tools/supplies that I'd need to do the job would be helpful. If anyone has put together some kind of instructions for doing a coolant flush on these trucks, please let me know. Or, if anyone is good at this and is inclined to put together detailed instructions for everyone on here, that would be great, too!

Oh yeah -- is it also a good idea to change the thermostat at the same time?

Thanks!

It couldn't hurt to replace the thermostat at this point, but it isn't a necessity. I only did mine because I was replacing my camshaft and I was right there...so I decided to swap the factory 195* stat with a 180* stat. Then again, preventive maintenance never hurts.

Is this a complete flush? If you ever get an extra minute and want to email it to me as well, no hurry. PM for my email address.

Thanks

Hey Ryan -- yeah you did. I just found it. I'm sorry, I forgot. I had it stashed away in the back of my Haynes manual with a bunch of other stuff I've printed out.

Thanks a lot!
