The family business is picking up a new 2500HD single cab short bed with the allison trans, and I am sure what V8 it has, but it is gas. We used to get fords, but since my dad has had the duramax, no more fords for our shop.

It'll be the 8.1, not sure the Allison was available behind the 6.0.

If it's gas and has the Allison Tranny then it will have the 8.1L big block under the hood. The small block 6.0L is mated to the 4L80E in the HD trucks.

Yep,has to be the 8.1,but I don't think its a "single cab,short bed",they don't make a 2500HD single(reg.) cab short bed.

Unrelated to that: I just discovered that "short bed" is no longer 6 1/2ft! What we used to call "short" is now called "standard". The new "short" is about 10 inches shorter yet. Maybe this change took place a long time ago and I just did not notice it..
