Got a '98 Yukon with 128,000 miles on stock 350 and transmission. Truck runs like it was new still. :banghead: I was just wondering how many miles others have seen before major work had to be done. Just trying to get an idea when I may need to start thinking about a new engine.

I sold my '96 Sierra vortec 5.7L with 189k miles, worked hard since day one. I used to change oil every 3k miles, went through 3 rear diffs but the engine didn't use a drop of oil! Ran strong and smooth. I still see it sometimes and it looks that work has only gotten harder!

Best engines I know come from GM! Japanese motors usualy need rebuilding at 150k miles (at least the 3 I had before), GM's engines are still breaking in at that mileage....

Just my experience, I sure know it will differ from owner to owner.

My good friend's 95 gmc 1500 4x4 went something like 250k miles before the water pump went on it...the doors were rusting out and he used it as his work truck (electrician) and the bed had a cap and was filled to capacity with tools..aside from normal wear and tear items such as brakes and tires the thing kept on ticking...it did start to tick about a year ago..he wound up giving it to his brother who still drives it..

My 98 C1500 has 138k on the clock. I have a 5.0 and a 4L60E. I have replaced the normal stuff (pumps brakes etc.) the only major work I had to do was the IM gasket at 120k and the transmission shift kit within the last month. I have been using Mobile 1 since 30k and the engine has never run better.

I traded this truck in January of this year for my 2004 Silverado.

This is a 94 Chevy (Cheyenne) Thunder, 350, E/C, 2WD with 248000 Klms which is equivalent to 154000 miles

No dents or door dings, slight surface rust just above the exhaust pipe.

Through the years I replaced the battery, starter, alternator and two additional sets of tires.

I had a '92 Yukon (OBS :D ) with about 120k when the torque converter went out. Replalced it, and at about 150k on occasion on cold mornings when leaving the house when it would try to shift to second it was just like kicking it into neutral for a second, the motor would tach up and then it would catch second with a jar. Sold it shorlty thereafter never repaired it (but did inform the purchaser of the condition :banghead: ).

My '99 Yukon (OBS :loser: ) had to have the master cylinder and the IM replaced at about 47k. Fuel sending unit at 80k, #3 injector at 94k (all warranty repair). No oil burn and runs good IMO.

Change oil every 5k with Castrol GTX 10w-30.

My '91 2500 HD had the 350 and 4L80E. Odometer went out at 193,000 miles, but I could still keep track of mileage because I drove it only to work and I knew how far it was. At 238,000 miles I broke a wrist pin, but did no other damage. At 255,000 I put in the 3rd starter. At 265,000 the radiator sprung a leak and a tie rod broke. At 289,000 I sold it to my brother in law for $2500 and used the money to buy a 9 month old '03 2500 8600gvw auto work truck. The new truck is great, but I kind of miss "ol' blue".

1996 Suburban, 5.7 Vortec. Sealed intake and replaced water pump at 124k miles. Have had a couple minor A/C problems. No other major repairs. Obviously, have replaced shocks, brakes, battery. Only on second fuel pump (knock wood). Paint still looks good, but chrome trim on body side mouldings and front bumper beginning to yellow.

Still driving it daily, with 346,000 miles on it.

My 01 Silverado has 126k on it and is still running strong. Change the oil every 4k. Now that I have hit 100k I usually try to change it closer to every 3k. No major work has been done yet (knock on wood). The only thing that has been changed on thre truck is a set of new rubber at 60k and new rear brakes at 91k. Gotta love GM!! My family has owned GM trucks for years and most of them see 200k with no major problems.

The blazer has about 185K miles on it....it's waiting for a donor 350 tbi from my sister suburban. It's on it's second transmission, the first lasted about 170K miles. The rear end has been rebuilt also. There isn't much rust on it, which is pretty odd for a mid 80's truck a lot of them had "body cancer" from bad paint or something. I think it's in pretty good shape...but then again it's mine. :banghead:

My 92 is getting close to 160k still doing great on the original engine and tranny.

I had an 89 that was at 350k without any major work when I sold it.
