Fan Speed Control

Anyone have the low speed on the HVAC fan die?

I have all speeds except low, the one used the most, of course!

 

02 Silverado LT (no climate control)

I had a silmilar problem and just replaced the motor. I am sure there will be other fixes, but I got tired of messing with it.

I assume the fan motor is on the passenger side behind the glove box?

I'd check the blower resistor first, should be right by the blower motor with about 3 to 5 wires going to it. The resistor windings for the low setting probably heated up and popped. If you have a scematic, you can unplug the connector and use an ohmmeter across the resistors pins. if the meter shows infinity when testing the pins for the low speed resistor, you found your problem.

Pulled the cover, removed the cabin air filters...YUCK! Glad the fan had a fault...good reason to check the filters.

Also pulled the resistor assembly, checked with my DVM, found low speed open.

New filters and resistor assembly (Delphi) will be installed tomorrow.
