If you Love your Door Chimes (03 & Later)

I had this in mind for quite some time. Studied it out just after I bought my truck. However side-lined the key-inserted switch because I thought it was part of the passlock system. So I vectored over to the door internals and the latch switch. Let it ding a couple of times then close the circuit (or open it, depending on the latch switch op.) So at least the alarm would still work.

But I wanted to see if the first idea would work. I went to make some measurements that I couldn't find in the documentation. But it worked with the wire out! All that time.... And it was so simple. however, later on I was thinking of anything else it would interfere with, and one catch to it was the memory seat return. I have an easy work-around I'm going to try today for that.

Looks like I'm not the only one annoyed with that d**n chime!

Thanx for the mention!

I added instructions to this for retaining memory-seat function. Without this additional simple procedure, that is lost if you just remove the wire.

Note that this should cover most all `03 & later GMT800 trucks. (To date anyway.)

Door chimes are different for '03-current than they are for '99-'02. The '03-ups go through the stereo so I doubt it would work on the older years.

Maybe I just don't get "it" but why do you want your chime gone?

Understand I went from not having it (previous owner put aftermarket deck in) to now having it (Scosche GM2000). What in the world are you people doing with your doors open and the keys in the ignition for long periods of time that this is a problem?
