what kind of diff do I have

Hi I was hoping some on could tell me what type of diffs I have on my truck. I have a 1979 gmc k2500 full time 4x4. I would like to know how many splines and what else I should know before I look for some posi's, the wheels are 8 bolt pattern also what kind of transfer case I have, I read that u have to use tranny oil for the transfercase so I am running it with it, is this bad? thanks if anyone can answer all these questions :D Please email me at [email protected] if u have time.
