Help w lift decision

I was talking to the lift shop and they recomended the Rancho 4" suspension lift with RS 5000 shocks. The price including labor is $2800. I already have the wheels. He saida Rancho recomends 33" tires. I have the BFG's 285's and he said they were just about 33" tall so they would look good. Is this a good price and can I rely on a long life from this lift.

The lift shop is a very reputable place in this area. Does any 1 have any pics of what this lift will look like installed? I have an 04 4wd/ec sb.

thanks

Rancho makes a nice kit. Very strong.

Are those wheels 16x8? I know a few people that have 315's with a rancho and 16x8 wheels. With just a little trimming and they were on there way.

A 33 would look good also IMO.

Hey there, I have a obs 95 with a Rancho lift. I did the work myself. It took me a weekend to do it. I don't know how ard it is for the nbs but I saved myself a ton of cash. I currently have 285's on it and wished I went with 315's T-bars not cranked. Rancho makes a great kit. One piece unit, no welding like other kits.

Woo wait. $2800 I must have read it fast last time because I didnt see that.

How does that break down?

Kit =$

Install=$

Last time I checked The Rancho kit came with shocks.

4wheelparts usually has that kit for around $1500 give or take. So you are saying they are charging over a grand just to put the kit on?

When I bought my kit from 4wheelparts, they said the cost of the kit is like $1340 US and the four shocks were like $110. Total came to $1550. The install amount seems high but I got the same amount quoted to me for my lift. It gets even worse in Canada. The kit alone was about $3000 CD and several places that said they do lifts all the time quoted me $3500 for the install. But when asked how long it will take, they couldn't tell me because they never installed one on a chevy. :thumbs::thumbs::cool:

That's why I put my kit on myself and d**n happy I did.

I would suggest shopping around to guage the pricing in your area. It sounds like this shop is high but that may be the going rate where you live.

I see a garage in the background of your pic. Unless the truck would be too tall after the install, putting it on yourself is a good option to save some cash and most lifts are pretty straightforward anymore.

Good luck.

I am getting the Rancho 4" installed on my Silverado Tuesday. I am adding BFg 285 A/T's with Bilstein Shocks. I'll let you know how it goes!

So - How did it go?

I am considering same lift so would appreciate your comments.

Thanks,

So how hard is it to install these lift kits. What tools are needed. The fear of the unknown is whats keeping me grounded. I don't have a garage either and just hand tools. It seems that with my tools and location I am better off paying out the hairy eye. :jester:

"Paying out the hairy eye".

:jester:

Now that's funny.

Man, depending on which lift you get, when you want to do it, and exactly what tools you need to have, I could probably give you a place to do it and a helping hand.

I have lots of tools. :chevy:

6 ton jack stands? :chevy:

How about 6 one ton jack stands? Would that work? :)

And what's the 36mm socket for? Attitude adjustment? :jester:

I think I have all of that.

Even the attitude that needs adjusted.

Maybe they were 3-ton, but they are tall which give enough room to install the lift.

The 36MM socket is to remove the 4WD CV nut on the Spindle.
