:dupe: Ok guys, I need some help here. I have a 97 Chevy Z-71 that the 4 wheel drive switch will no longer light up or do anyhting. I was told when I posted a question about this to replace the 4 wheel drive switch. I need to know if I need to replace the switch that is in the dash or if there is another switch on the transfer case or somethign that could be causing the same problem. As you can see I am very confused as to what to do!!!

Please help!!! The weather is getting nasty here and this thing is worthless in really bad snow!!!!

Thanks

How did this work out for you? I don't think that if the solenoid was bad, that it would cause the switch to malfunction, but I may be wrong. I would start by removing the dash switch and inspecting it for any signs of damage (burnt contacts, broken parts, etc). If you find something there, I would bet that is the culprit...

I already replaced the front accuator.

Have not done an inspection of the switches yet.

All of the buttons light up when I start my truck, at the time when all of the dash light up. Then they go off right away.

There has got to be an explanation somewhere. I dont have enough money to take it to the dealership and dont have enought to replace all kinds of things and have them not fix the problem. I need to nail this thing on the head!!!!
