Second row Captains Chairs

Can they be moved back? My wife and I are 6' and 6'2" respectively and we have the front row seats all the way back. To provide a little more leg room for the second row of people in our Suburban, I would like to move the second row captains chairs back. From what I have found, I don't think they slide or move at all.

Has anyone made any modifications to make them slide back a little bit further?

If there is no one in the third row, there is plenty of room for the second row to move back.

Sorry, but no, the 2nd row seats do not move. In order to relocate them further rearward would need extensive modifications. The floor pan would need to be modified with new mounting provisions and the seat structure would need major modification to match the new location relative ot the floorpan. Please advise if there are any other seat questions on these vehicles. I am the seat engineer for the supplier on the GM trucks both, current (GMT800) and for MY07 (GMT900).

BTW - For MY07 the seating in my opinion is only getting worse. GM styling has ruined them!!

Thanks for the reply. While I have not looked very closely and put the "noodle" to work, I just wondered if there was a simple sollution. A friend of mine has an 85 Suburban and the rear seat has more leg room than my 04 does.

I have an 04 Yukon XL, I ordered it with the full rear bench , but now I wish I had gotten the Captains chairs. Was thinking of trying to get some captains chairs from salvage and install. Are the seat tracks going to be a big problem? And then I guess the releases for the seats probably wont work when I want to fold them down to haul stuff? Any other big problems?Thanks

Boomer - When you remove the bench seat, you will be removing the entire seat track structure. The captain's chairs will have their own seat structure. All of the mechanisms that operate the folding will be attached to the structure. So to answer your question - by replacing the entire seat structure, your seats should have full function.

OK, thanks, I will start trolling out there and see what is available. I have the Grey interior so that may be more hard to find. Do you think anything from around 01 up will work? Thanks

Should be OK with an 01 and up. Seat structure should not have changed and color should not be a determining factor in your hunt.

We have a 2007 Yukon with rear captains seats and a 60/40 folding 3rd row seat. I would love it if all of the seats could slide forward and backward. My wife is convinced that we should get an XML because she can't easily fit her carseat in the rear. I am will to pay for custom brackets to allow forward backward adjustment. Any ideas of where I could go?

I would not touch the seats. GM spent untold hours and dollars ensuring they are placed properly for the best possible crash performance in relation to the seat belts working right and for the airbags to be the most helpful. Moving the seats throws all this engineering out the window. Since we're talking about kiddos here safety is before everything else- if the car seat doesn't fit I'd look into a different one.
