Alternator type

Just a quick question.

 

How do you find out what the Alternator amp output is?

 

I moved and can not find my manuals?

 

I'm looking to replace the belts, and they have 2 types, one for a 105 amp and the other for a 130 amp.

Chances are unless it had the snow-plow prep or some other high draw option it is the smaller amp...

 

The parts store should be able to tell which one it takes as well.

At the left of this page is a link to RPO codes. I printed the one for mine and compared it to my glovebox sticker, putting a mark by the numbers I had.

It will tell you which alternator you have.

If you don't want to print out the whole thing, pull up your year and model and do a ctrl-f (find) and type in alternator and write down the possible codes for all the different alternator configs and compare that to all the numbers in your glove box.

90% of them are 105 amp the rest vary using depending on options....

i had the 105 amp alternator. then i replaced it with the 130 amp with out changing the belt.soooo it probably doesnt realy matter.
