Switching out decks in '05 model to '03 model

Here is my question...

I have a '03 Silverado Z71 with the factory Bose single disc CD.

My dad has a '05 Silverado Z71 with the 6 disc in dash with XM. He doesn't care about the 6 disc in dash, he only wants the XM. My question is, are the XM receivers and 6 disc seperate units? Or are they attached?

I just wanted to put my '03 Bose factory deck in his with him still being able to use XM. Is that possible?

the xm is built into the radio unfortunetly . it is all one unit and then has the extra connector on the back for the antennea

Actually The XM is a separate module.You could use the 6 disc changer in your 03 and the single in your Dads.But you would have to take it to your dealer to program the VIN # in each of the Radios
