4.8L Mileage

During the holidays I drove my (recently Classic Soft Trim Leather seated) 2001 ext cab 4.8 2wd round trip to Tampa, Fl from Gulfport, MS. On the return trip I went into St. Cloud FL. Total 1500 miles. I towed a tandem axle 8' X 16' flatbed trailer. Mileage for the entire trip? 17.

I drove about 80-85 mph with the trailer most of the time cruising on the interstate. I did NOT use tow haul, most of the hwy miles were in OD cept for when I hit the hills I held it to 3rd.

I don't know about you guys...but I think that the mileage I got was Great! My 99 Ram Quad Cab never even THOUGHT about seeing 17 MPG. With or without a load, highway or otherwise.

I think GMC hit it on the head with the new motors!

I wish I had mielage like that w/ my truck. I always get crummy mielage because i do mostly city driving, have a heavy right foot, and use reformulated gas. My MPG's stay around 13.

How's that leather feeing?

The Dodge Ram Reg Cab Short Bed with 318 I had never got over 14mpg unloaded. It was a 5-speed and was alot of fun to drive but the mileage was terrible. It was common to get mileage as low as 12 mpg. My Silverado 5.3L seems to consistantly get between 15 and 17.5mpg.
