Mirror Thermometer

Anyone know how this thing normally functions regarding the "Ice" function. Mine says in sometimes but not always when one would think it should. It can't be dependent just upon temperature because it has been well below freezing and not said it. Just wondering, thanks for the help, Jeff.

My guess is that when the temp is hovering around 32 it will flash "ICE". Funny you should mention that since I just noticed it for the first time yesterday morning. I imagine that when the temp gets well below 32 they assume that you know it's icy already so they don't warn you. Only when the temp is right close to 32 do they want you to know ice *could* exist and catch you off guard.

I was wondering the same thing. I noticed it this one night, about a week ago,

only at startup, it would show ICE (haven't seen it since then and we've been having sleet lately).

I then went and looked at my Owner's Manual in PDF format (my used truck didn't have a manual

with it, so I signed up at My GMLink - Owner Center @ https://www.mygmlink.com/main/US/en/gm/home

and was able to download one) and I couldn't find anything in that manual about it.

I just sent off an email to My GMLink and hopefully they can answer it for us?

Thanks for the input, hopefully they will email you an answer. Normally when I notice it, it is at startup but it has flashed while driving and then nothing just the temp. It seemed to me that my parents old 2000 would flash back and fourth between "ICE" and "temperature" but I could be wrong. I too looked in the manual and found nothing. :withstupid: I guess it isn't a big deal but it has stumped me.

My '03 would flash between ICE and the temperature yesterday morning.

Maybe the ICE on startup is to remind you to scrape the frost off your windshield? :withstupid:

Here's the description from our service information...

In cold temperatures such as 3°C (37°F) or below, the temperature display will show ICE when the ignition is first turned ON. The display will toggle between ICE and the actual outside temperature until the temperature update process is complete.

That's exactly how mine works.
