I put 10-30W in my truck and it has made the knock a lot quieter. Only thing I have found to lessen the noise so far.

If the noise is CSK (COLD start knock) and it only happens when it's cold, then the dealer has a service update for the PCM that helps. Wester's also offers this with his tunes if you ask.

Many have good luck with the change to the 10-30 too, depends on the severity of the knock.

The three kinds of knock.

Cold start knock...knocks when it's cold, goes away in a minuet or 2 once it's warmed up. (Not serious, but can lead to more wear and all the time knock)

Hot start knock...happens after a restart after the truck has been cooling for an hour or so. Goes away in a minuet or 2. (Not a big deal, just the aluminum pistons cooling off and shrinking faster than the block. Heat expands them so they don't rattle around in the cylinder bores)

All the time knock...Not good. The pistons have worn beyond thrir ability to expand and fill the cylinder bore.

I also got reduced knocking when switching from M1 5w-30 to M1 10w-30, in fact it went away entirely for a long while right after switching. But, it has come back (but lighter).
