5.3 liter Aluminum block

Does anyone know Gm's purpose for this option? Is it better? Is it stronger? 295 hp vs 310?????? What's the deal? Is it worth it?

The Alu blocks are lighter, and it is theorized that the alu is cooler and therefore produces more HP. What the purpose behind GM offering them as an option, I am not sure.

just a HO alternitave for the 05 ecsb Z-71 (only truck its avail on) Kind of like the 6.0L HO is an option on certain trucks and standard on the SS and AWD escalade.

The 5.3 aluminum HO engine is mostly marketing. GM is one of the last to upgrade their full size pickups, (Titan is new, Dodge and Ford have done recent upgrades, Toyota Tundra upgrade is in the works).

 

The 5.3 aluminum HO is an easy parts bin upgrade for GM, and provides a little excitement for their 2005 Z71 model until the new models come out in a year or so. Got to keep those production lines moving... It worked for me, I bought one!
