Warranty work performed.

I had the Seat Belt (00045A) and Front Brake Pipe (00093A) performed along with the Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Assembly. No vibration in steering now.

I also had a problem with a clunking, metal against metal sound coming from the rear end area when hitting dips/bumps in the road. I had it in for this two other times and they couldn't duplicate it. This time I took the master tech for a ride and let him hear it about 5 or 6 time. When they called me they said they thought it was my exhaust hitting the drivers side shock. I asked him to look at it a little more because the first time I took it in it had the original exhaust on it and still did it. When I went to pick it up the invoice said they replaced the Rear Spring Insulators (P/N 15604174, 4 each). This fixed the noise. These are some pretty heavy duty looking pieces of rubber. Alot thicker than what was on there. I went back in after a quick trip over the usual places that it made the noise and told them it fixed it. I guess the leaf springs were slapping together in certain situations.

They were not able to duplicate the fuel pump buzzing/humming sound I hear sometimes. Not too upset about that though. I understand if they can't duplicate it because it only does it sometimes for me. At least I'm building a history on it and if it goes out after the warranty, maybe i can use that to my advantage.:wink:

Glad to hear you are having good luck with your dealer. Too often, we only hear about problem service depts., not good ones.

Glad to hear you got most everything taken care of. As far as the buzzing/humming from the fuel pump; First off, all of the in tank fuel pumps buzz or hum and I'm sure you realize that. What tends to make them louder is usually a bad fuel filter, sign that the pump is going bad or in your case since you only hear it some of the time my guess is that it's when you are low on gas?

The less gas in the tank makes the pumps sound louder because more "air" space to resonate the sound. Since you said it was only sometimes that would be my guess. Also, I try and use the 1/8 of a tank mark as my empty and fill it then. More fuel in the tank keeps the pump from running too hot and cools it. Some say it prolongs the life of the pump by doing this.

I have that clank in the rear too. What do the new pieces look like? Do they replace the plastic pieces between the leafs? I brought mine in twice also and got the same results you did...exhaust, etc.

Thank for the info Big Blue. It does seem to do it more when I have a half a tank or less in it. I just replaced the fuel filter a few months back and it did it again shortly after. If the pump is going out, i hope it does before the warranty is up.
