They're pretty easy. I'd say a mechanically inclined DIY'er should have no problem. I don't do parts, so can't give you prices.

I replaced both regulators on my 2001 1500 and it was very easy. I just pulled off the access cover for the mirror, pulled off the pod for the switches and disconnected the wiring harnesses. There were only 2 screws to remove; one near the door handle, and one on the left hand side of the of the opening where the pod was. Then lifted the door panel up and off, just remove the harness for the door light and pull the handle through. Then, peel the plastic back. There are 2 bolts to losen that attach the regulator to the window, then 3 bolts on the left and right side of the regulator, fold it all down and pull the old regulator out through the opening.

 

I got mine from a used parts place for about $160.00 each.

i have a price from the dealer for the regulator is 235 bucks and they have them in stock so that tells me that they wear out alot. going to call parts store to see if they have them.
