GM says NO it will not. I bought an 02 HD recently with 27,000 miles and it has CSK. Goes away after it warms up. Called GM Customer Service and politely complained about it. They made an appointment for me to take it to dealer and get it diagnosed and documented and then they gave me a GM Component Replacement warranty for the engine only that is good for 6yr/100,000. This coverage begins when the truck was first sold, so it will take me 3 years to 2008 and/or 100,000 miles. I just got the letter from GM in the mail this week.

I was searching and found some peoples truck have CSK.  Will this hurt the motor any or affect longevity of the motor?

There are 3 types of KnocK, all lumped into the CSK name. Even most dealers lump these all together. They are not the same and should not all be called CSK!

The first is Cold Start KnocK (CSK)

This happens when the trucK is cold and goes away after a few minuets as the TrucK warms up. It is the pistons that have not expanded yet from the heat. Not a big deal.

The second is Warm Start KnocK (WSK)

This happens on a restart after the trucK has cooled down for about an hour. It is caused from the aluminum pistons cooling down and shrinKing faster than the cast iron blocK. Again, not a big problem, and fairly normal for Hyperutectic pistons.

The third is All the Time KnocK (ATTN) You get this when the pistons are worn beyond their ability to expand and fill the cylinder bores. This is not good. Cause are poor manufacturing tolerances, poor design due to the sKirts being too short, dirty oil, or too thin oil when cold and/or hot, or poor lubrication in other words.

# 1+ 2 can lead to #3 if lubrication is not sufficient to prevent additional wear.
