1995 Tahoe 5.7 Surges at idle

Recommended Posts

I have a 1995 Tahoe with a 5.7 the truck has started to surge at idle and drive at low speed and sometime it will stall. Last week I change the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and oxygen sensor. I also did a compression test and all cylinders were between 145psi and 150 psi. The truck has a k&n air filter. Egr valve was change about six months ago. It surges after the truck warms up and is driven and you restart it. It does not happen when it is cold in the morning.

Does anyone seen this problem.

PS, I put back the old 02 sensor last night and will see if I have a problem when I drive home after work and restart when it is hot.

The check engine light has not come on.

Thank for any help

How many miles?

Have you changed the fuel filter? I have changed the filter twice in mine (troubleshooting other problems) and never had that problem.

The truck has 82000 miles and I changed the fuel filter six months ago.

I went back to the old oxygen sensor on friday and the truck is running with out surging again. It must have been a bad sensor. I will return the sensor back to the auto parts store today. Thanks for the help.
