fuel pressure regulator

how can you tell if the fuel pressure reg is bad hard to start rough idle or some other symtom?is it not to expensive and can a light duty do it yourselfer replace it if needed?

Depends on what year model you are talking about 96-98 you have to remove the upper intake. 99-up it is on the outside and easy to replace.

 

Typically the truck is hard to start after it gets warm when the regulator is bad. Pull the vacuum hose off that goes to the regulator. If you can see or feel fuel in that line then the regulator is bad.

Hard to start and rough idle are two symptoms. To make sure it's going bad, pull the vacuum tube and look for fuel in it.
