Base that Distributor cap mounts to, need help

I changed the Distributor cap and Rotor on my 2000 Yukon Denali 5.7Liter engine tonight, and the screw tabs in the base of the Distributor that the cap mounts to have broken tabs.

 

When I pulled the screws out I noticed that there were bad cracks around one side, of the screw holes, so the cap will not stay tight now. I need to replace this. I was unable to get it to come off. My distributor has a flat plastic cap with the 8 wires coming out of it and the coil wire. It then has a round Rotor that mounts to a little metal plate, which then has a small sensor with two screws holding it on the dsitrbtor plastic base. The plastic base is what I need to replace. I need to find out if this is doable and also how to remove it. I tried to pull it up, after removing the sensor, but the metal plate that the rotor attaches to, doesn't seem to want to pull off. It has a metal bar coming out of the engine in the middle of the metal plate.

 

I have fixed the base for right now, to get me to work in the morning by seeling the cracks up with some epoxy and then redrilling a hole for the screws. The problem is that the screws still will not get tight, so the cap could move a little bit side to side. Which I am paranoid of. Any insight would greatly help. Also, can I get this part at Advance auto, carquest or autozone or is a dealer specific part?

The part the distributor cap attaches to is the whole distributor assembly. It's not a piece you can remove. You'll have to replace the distributor.

Thats also what they told me at the Dealership when I called for the part, $458 or something like that. Wow, all for a piece of plastic on the Distributor.

 

I am going to try to make the 3rd party warranty company cover it, they should. It was dry rotted and cracked and just snapped on me, I have fixed it a little bit, so that it is driveable, but not trustable.

It's not a piece of plastic ON the distributor, it IS the distributor!
