22.000 mi. and figure it' past time for a fuel filter change. Is any one filter better than another, or should I stick with AC Delco. What's your choice?

I just replaced mine with an AC Delco at 70,000 miles and it still looked clean. I think 22,000 miles is a little early for changing it.

Beg to differ on the change interval. 1 tank of bad gas can plug the fuel filter and will cause the pump to fail prematurely. Yes, if you never get any bad gas, it could last much longer. But, at $600 to replace the fuel pump, I will replace my $10 filter every 1000 gallons or around 10,000 miles. I also don't run the tank below 1/4 tank because the fuel is the coolant for the pump.

 

ACDelco is my preferred brand but I have used others.

Yes,70,000 is waaaaay too long to go before changing it.I used to go 20-25,000 miles between changes.

I just read my owners manual and the first fuel filter change is listed for 60,000 miles.

I changed mine at 30,000 with an AC/Delco OEM replacement. No problems, easy to take care of. I figured I'd rather stick with AC, it was only like $11 anyways.

So what are the suggestions for those of us with no filter? Is there really no filter or is it in the tank? I'm thinking of installing an aftermarket filter in-line.

Yep,Its in the tank,they call it a strainer.

I have not looked into adding an aftermarket filter but I would if its possible.

I use AC Delco filters and replace every 25-30K

I replace every 25K or so...and use either an AC delco or Puraltor...depending on what the store sells.
