If you are concerned about gas mileage dont do it. Other wise you will need a different spring if its a 2x4 and if it a 4x4 you can have the torsion bars adjusted and have the front end aligned.

The air going under the truck is subject to catching anything on the chassis. Raising the rear cuts the drag since the underbody isnt smooth. Check the underbody of a 97-04 Corvette its smooth.

Also removing the blocks changes the pinion angle and will damage your u-joints.

well having the rearend up higher increases the drag on the top of the truck and lowering the rearend increases the drag underneath the truck. It's a lose lose situation if you want to think about it that away. removing the blocks won't effect the pinion angle that much to cause any more damage than a truck that is lifted 2". That's something I wouldn't even consider being a problem.

if it is a 4x4 you can also remove the blocks in the rear to drop it 2"

if it is a 4x2 you can buy lowering shackles

You can use 2" lowering shackles whether its a 4x4 or 4x2. If its an extended cab...you need a shim kit to correct the pinion angle. Regular cabs don't need a shim kit. DJM and Belltech make good products...check out their websites. As you can see from my pick, they level the truck out. Good luck
