Various Dash Lights Out

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am on my way to work this morning when I notice several lights not working. Half of the top and all of the left side of my radio is gone, my 2H light (been out for a couple of weeks), and the light behind the driving light switch. I have already replaced two of the steering wheel controls because they were out, but I am probably going to have the dealer check the others. I just hope my extended warranty covers it.

Anyone else not seeing the light?

Very common. I've seen it quite a bit on here.

Unfortunately, it's probably not considered a "safety issue" so GM probably won't have any recall or fix for it...

I run mine at 1/2 illumination or less, hoping they will last longer.

I stopped by the dealer this morning and they said they would have to replace the radio, not the lights. That obviously seems like a waste, but oh well. They will get the rest of the lights working, too. I have to stop by this afternoon so they can hook a scanner up to the truck (something to do with the radio).

I also asked about the intermediate steering shaft that has been on back-order for several months and was told it would be here the middle of May (yeah, right).

I wonder if you have an overvoltage condition burning out your dash lights. How many hours are on this truck?

HI guys - had this same problem with our 2003 Z71 Tahoe recently and read somewhere that there is a loose connection behind the radio?? The short term fix was to whack the dashboard above the radio! Sure enough, the lights that were out on half of my radio and the defrost came back ON!! LOL

Anyone know the permanent fix? I suppose I could pull the raio and reseat all connectors. Thanks...
